Mindfulness

Mindfullness is defined

“ The awareness that arise from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally”

– John Kabat-Zinn

He further says by focusing on the breath, the idea is to cultivate attention on the body and mind as it is moment to moment, and so help with pain, both physical and emotional.

When individuals learn to inhabit the present moment in an embodied way, people can learn how not to get caught up in the drama of the narrative self, or lost in thought or wandering mind.

The Attitudes of Mindfulness :

  • No-judging
  • Patience
  • Beginner’s Mind
  • Trust
  • Non-striving
  • Acceptance
  • Letting Go
  • Embodiment

Through the didactical teachings of mindfulness combined with the practices and techniques such as mindfulness meditation, mindfulness walking, mindfulness eating, yoga, qigong …

Individuals may start seeing changes as focus, concentration, a boost in their cognitive function and may ease the stress and anxiety levels.
